Katarina Wetter Edman, lecturer at Konstfack, PhD in Service Design and an MFA in industrial design from HDK, the School of Design and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg. Katarina currently conducts postdoctoral research together with Anna Rylander (HDK) in the project Making Sense of Design Work with a pronounced pragmatist perspective on design as inquiry based in aesthetic experience. The project is funded by a grant from Torsten and Wanja Söderberg foundation.

Katarina’s research interest concerns the changing role of design practice, particularly service design and designers’ potential contribution when involving users and other stakeholders. This is most recently developed in her dissertation, titled "Design for Service: a framework for articulating designers’ contribution as interpreter of users’ experience" (2014). Katarina’s research draws on thoughts within design and service marketing and management research with the ambition to articulate design’s contribution for value creation.
Katarina has an increasing interest of the role in design for public sector and policy. She is also a part time in-house researcher at Experio Lab, a national centre for patient-focused service innovation located at the County Council of Värmland. In this context she applies her interest in pragmatism and aesthetic experience by following projects emphasising the designerly use of a combination on lived and felt experiences. Further Katarina teaches design and service design at HDK and Karlstad University.

She is member of the Swedish Council of co-created health care, care and social services founded by Vinnova, Forte, SVID, The Swedish Agency for Health and Care Services Analysis (Vårdanalys) and Ministry of Health and Social Affairs
